The Orleans hotel Las Vegas is a Mardi Gras themed hotel with 1,885 rooms and a 135,000 square foot casino. Owned by Boyd Gaming Corporation, it includes a large multipurpose show area that can be converted into an ice rink. It is a major home for poker in Las Vegas and was one of the biggest poker rooms in Las Vegas prior to the 21st century poker boom. The Orleans is commonly referred to as "The O" by it's employees.

History

The Hotel and Casino opened in 1998. When it casino first opened, it did not perform up to expectations. In 1999 a major addition to the casino and other amenities was added. The success of these changes has been demonstrated by the continued expansions in later years. The Orleans Arena was added in 2003 and a second hotel tower was added in 2004.

"Lots of activities, awesome poker room. Rooms are nice, not what you'd expect for the rate and it made us wonder why we ever paid for the strip. You need a car though you can't walk to the strip. Recommended!"

"This was our first visit to Las Vegas and The Orleans was excellent. Super clean, large comfortable rooms, large drinks, great buffet, fabulous staff at one quarter of the price of the strip. Free shuttle to sister casinos allowed easy access to Strip. Game room, theatres and bowling alleys real positive for family fun. The poker room is close to the best in Las Vegas, I played four tournaments and a bunch of ring games, above average competition with superior game management. A Must Stay. We can't wait to go back."
